About the Opportunity
Our client, a technology driven engineering organization based in Munich, is looking for a Software Developer (Qt / C++) to further develop and maintain a mature, business critical Qt based application.
This is a 12 month contract with strong extension potential, offered via our PAYE agency worker model. You will be effectively employed on a fixed term contract and receive standard employee benefits including paid holiday, sick pay, and statutory protections, rather than operating as a freelancer.
The role sits in a product and project focused environment with close collaboration between developers, users, and interface partners. The emphasis is on high quality, maintainable software and excellent usability rather than rapid throwaway development.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain an existing Qt based application using C++
- Work hands on across both Qt Widgets and QML
- Collaborate directly with users and interface partners to clarify and refine requirements
- Coordinate technical interfaces with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Contribute to improving usability, workflows, and user experience
- Create clear technical documentation and user guidance
- Ensure code quality, maintainability, and long term stability of the application
Technical Environment
- C++ with Qt (Widgets and QML)
- Git for version control
- Visual Studio for C++ development
- CMake based build systems
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong commercial experience with Qt, including both QML and Qt Widgets
- Good working knowledge of Git
- Familiarity with CMake
- Ability to independently gather, clarify, and document requirements
- Experience working with multiple technical stakeholders
- Comfortable producing technical documentation and user facing guidance
- Negotiation level German and basic English
Desirable Experience (Nice to Have)
- Experience with embedded or technical applications
- Background working with long lived or legacy Qt applications
- Strong focus on usability and user workflow improvements
- Experience in structured or regulated development environments
- Willingness to take ownership of application components and interfaces
