Job summary

Merck Group is seeking an Analytics Architect to design and govern cloud-native data platforms, focusing on Snowflake-driven models and secure analytics pipelines. You will translate complex data needs into scalable solutions, define architecture standards, and mentor engineers within an agile, product-oriented team.

The role requires 5+ years in data engineering or analytics architecture and fluency in English, with German helpful for local collaboration. Based in Germany (Hessen, Darmstadt).

Qualifications

• University degree in IT, CS, finance, business, or related field.
• 5+ years in data engineering or analytics architecture in a global context.
• Strong Snowflake experience; Palantir Foundry or AWS is a plus.
• Proficient Python (incl. PySpark), SQL, ETL/ELT; Spark knowledge advantageous.
• Proven technical leadership in agile teams; ability to mentor engineers.
• Deep understanding of data architecture, security, governance, lifecycle management.
• Experience with enterprise data in Finance, HR, Procurement, or similar domains.
• Fluent English; German language proficiency desirable for collaboration with local teams.

Analytics Architect (all genders)

Your Role

In your role as Analytics Architect (all genders), you will partner with business stakeholders, product teams, and technical experts to translate complex data needs into scalable, secure analytics solutions. You will define and govern the architecture of cloud-native data platforms, prioritize reusable data products, and drive the design of robust pipelines and analytical datasets. Focus areas include Snowflake-driven data models, data security and governance, and enabling self-service analytics for diverse functions. You will establish architectural standards, reference architectures, and best practices, mentor engineers, and collaborate in an agile, product‑oriented environment to deliver value that users can trust and reuse across the organization.

Who you are:

• University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• 5+ years in data engineering, analytics architecture, or data visualization in a global context
• Strong experience with Snowflake; familiarity with Palantir Foundry or AWS is a plus
• Proficient Python (incl. PySpark), SQL, ETL/ELT, REST APIs; Spark and Kafka knowledge is advantageous
• Proven technical leadership in agile teams; ability to mentor engineers
