Holidu GmbH is seeking a backend software engineer to help build AI-assisted experiences for millions of guests and hosts. You’ll own outcomes, not features, and decide what to build, how to ship, and how we’ll measure impact in production.

You’ll ship fast and learn faster, working across Kotlin/Java, AWS, Kubernetes, and modern data stores. Candidates with 2–5 years’ backend experience and a track record of shipping end-to-end in production will thrive here.

Your future team

We're looking for software engineers who own problems end-to-end. You'll ship AI features used by Holidu's 4M guests and 55k+ hosts, leverage tools like Claude Code to multiply your output, and work on the parts of Holidu that define how we'll work for the next decade.

If you've shipped real things, want more ownership than you've had, and are energized by building agentic systems in production, this role is for you.

Your team works directly with the Co-founder and CTO.

The Context

Holidu connects 4 million guests with 55k+ vacation rental hosts every year. Our Agentic Experience team is a small, fast-moving group inside Holidu's 200-person Engineering organization, rethinking how users interact with our platform using AI, how we build applications, and how we design agentic systems, with a lot of first-principles thinking along the way.

Today our agents handle thousands of real conversations across WhatsApp, email, in-product chat, and the help center, with the surface area expanding into adjacent products and internal tools. We're not running playbooks or following standard processes. We innovate and move radically fast.

Your role in this journey

Own outcomes, not features. You'll take a problem like "hosts spend too much time on guest communication" and decide what to build, how to ship, and how we'll know it worked.

Ship fast, learn faster. From idea to production in days, not sprints. We measure output in customer impact.

Solve real problems with agents. You'll write code for multi-agent systems with tool calling and handoffs that handle thousands of real conversations and complex workflows, but the code is the easy part. The work is figuring out which conversations are worth automating in the first place.

Use the right tool for the job. Our stack runs on Kotlin/Java, AWS, Kubernetes, ReactJS, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Redis, with workflow-automation tooling and the Model Context Protocol stitching agents to the rest of the platform, across several repos. You won't hesitate to push for a better tool when it's warranted.

• Product instincts. You ask "what problem are we solving?" before "what should I build?".

• Comfort with ambiguity. You don't wait for perfect specs to start moving.

• 2–5 years of backend development experience.

• A track record of shipping features end-to-end in production environments with real users.
