Job summary

RWS Group is seeking AI Conversation Recording Contributors to join a German speech data collection project and help support the evaluation and development of the next generation of AI technologies.

This freelance, work-from-home role offers flexible, task-based work (about 2–4 hours daily) with immediate start and payment via USD hourly rate.

Candidates should be native German (Germany) speakers with good English to follow instructions, a quiet recording space, and reliable internet.

• Advanced level English to understand written instructions.
• Experience with speech recording or data annotation projects is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech following project guidelines.
• Capture speech from approved real-life situations (e.g., workplace conversations, casual discussions).
• Complete individual or two-person conversational speech tasks, or engage in voice or voice-text interactions with AI systems.
• Annotate collected speech data according to instructions.
• Provide required metadata for each recording.

Help Shape the Future of AI

This short project offers an opportunity to evaluate and improve speech recognition and conversational AI technologies by providing spontaneous speech collected from real-life situations.

How Your Recordings Will Be Used

The collected recordings, annotations, and related metadata will be used to evaluate the spontaneous speech capabilities of speech-enabled AI models. The compiled data may be reviewed for quality and incorporated into datasets used for research, development, testing, and improvement of AI systems.

What You’ll Do

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech in accordance with the project guidelines.
• Participate in or capture speech from approved real-life situations, such as workplace conversations or casual one-on-one discussions.
• Complete individual or two-person conversational speech tasks, or participate in voice or voice-text interactions with an AI or machine-based system.
• Annotate collected speech data according to the instructions provided.
• Provide the required information and metadata related to each recording.

What We’re Looking For

• Native-level fluency in German (Germany).
• Authentic pronunciation and strong familiarity with the target language through everyday use.
• Advanced level of English to understand written instructions.
• Contributors must not imitate dialects or accents that are not their own.
• Experience with speech recording or data annotation projects is an advantage, but not required.
• Strong attention to detail when providing annotations and recording metadata.
• Ability to follow detailed project and recording instructions.

Technical Requirements

• Quiet room or recording space with minimal background noise.
• Computer microphone or headset with microphone.
• Reliable internet connection.
• Ability to access and use an online recording platform.
