Dartmouth Partners is seeking a Finance and Accounting Manager for Germany. The role owns end-to-end financial accounting across German entities with emphasis on execution quality, reliability, and leadership.

It combines operational depth with governance and ownership-driven mindset. The candidate will lead a team of approximately 5 FTE, manage month-end close under HGB, oversee project-based accounting, and contribute to internal controls and process improvements in collaboration with auditors

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification.
• Strong hands-on experience with month-end close in complex environments.
• Experience with project-based accounting, ideally in engineering or technical services.
• 3–4 years of leadership experience managing multiple FTEs.

Aufgaben

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual closing under German GAAP (HGB).
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, and accruals; ensure audit readiness.
• Lead and develop an accounting team of ~5 FTE, including prioritisation and performance management.
• Oversee project-based accounting with correct revenue and cost allocation.
• Contribute to controlling topics: variance analyses and management support.
• Establish internal controls and accounting standards aligned with group and PE requirements.
• Prepare structured reporting packages for the holding organisation.
• Collaborate with HR and operations, as well as external advisors and auditors.
• Support system and process transformation.

Reporting to Finance Director

The Accounting Manager will assume end-to-end responsibility for financial accounting across the German entities, with a strong focus on execution quality, reliability, and leadership. The role combines operational depth with leadership accountability and requires a pragmatic, ownership-driven mindset.

• Full ownership of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities under German GAAP (HGB)
• Responsibility for general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and accruals, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness
• Leadership and development of an accounting team of approximately 5 FTE, including task prioritisation, coaching, and performance management
• Oversight of project-based accounting in an engineering/services environment, including correct revenue and cost allocation
• Involvement in financial controlling topics (approx. 20%), including variance analyses and management support
• Establishment and continuous improvement of internal controls, accounting standards, and documentation aligned with group and PE requirements
• Preparation of structured and transparent reporting packages for the holding organisation
• Close collaboration with HR, and operational leadership as well as external advisors and auditors
• Active contribution to system and process transformation

Professional background:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification
• Strong professional experience in financial accounting under HGB (IFRS not required)
• Proven hands-on ownership of month-end close processes in complex environments
• Experience with project-based accounting, ideally in engineering, technical services, or similar industries
• Leadership experience of 3–4 years, with direct responsibility for teams of multiple FTEs
