Zusammenfassung

Ratepay is expanding its accounting team in Berlin. The Accountant (m/f/d) will lead key month-end closing activities under HGB and IFRS, ensure accuracy of records, and support internal and external audits.

You will collaborate with Finance, Treasury and other departments to drive process improvements and ensure compliance. The role requires a commercial apprenticeship or accounting qualification, several years of accounting experience, and strong SAP/MS Office skills.

Qualifikationen

• Completed commercial apprenticeship or training as an Accountant or equivalent qualification.
• Several years of accounting experience; project management experience a plus.
• Affinitiy for numbers and meticulous work style.
• Familiarity with HGB and IFRS accounting; strong SAP and MS Office skills.
• Navision exposure and VAT knowledge advantageous.
• Passion for the subject and commitment to the company.
• Open, outgoing and team-oriented attitude.
• Independent, service‑oriented and continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong Excel knowledge and analytical skills.
• Fluent English and at least B1 German.

Aufgaben

• Own key month-end and year-end closing activities: accruals, provisions, reconciliations, and entries under HGB/IFRS.
• Ensure accuracy of records: balance sheet reconciliations, regulatory reporting, audits.
• Oversee accounts payable processes; coordinate with stakeholders and guide day‑to‑day accounting tasks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, controls and workflows.
• Support tax accounting topics, focusing on direct taxes and data reconciliations.

Your Mission

Together we work on tailor‑made solutions for major online merchants and marketplaces - designing the payment solutions of tomorrow.

As an Accountant (m/f/d), you will work hand in hand with your colleagues from the Accounting Team, provide support with accounting‑related tasks and be the contact person for internal and external audits. You will take ownership of key accounting processes, play an important role in our monthly and annual closing activities and actively contribute to the development of our accounting function. Working closely with colleagues across Finance and other departments, you will help drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Your Tasks:

• You take ownership of key month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, provisions, reconciliations, and the preparation of accounting entries under HGB and IFRS.
• You ensure the accuracy and compliance of accounting records by performing account analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, regulatory reporting and supporting internal and external audits.
• You oversee accounts payable related processes, coordinate with internal stakeholders and support the timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices, payments and vendor reconciliations. In this context, you work closely with our working students and provide guidance on day‑to‑day accounting activities.
• You contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes, internal controls and system‑supported workflows while collaborating closely with colleagues across Finance, Treasury and other business functions.
• You support tax‑related accounting topics with a particular focus on direct taxes, including the preparation of tax‑relevant data, reconciliations and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

That’s What You Bring Along

• You have completed a commercial apprenticeship or training as an Accountant or have an equivalent qualification; the qualification of "Bilanzbuchhalter" is of benefit.
• You have several years of experience in accounting, ideally also in Project Management.
• You have an affinity for numbers and a meticulous approach to work.
• You are familiar with accounting according to HGB and IFRS and have very good knowledge of SAP and MS Office.
• Ideally, you have had your first contact with Navision and have been able to gain knowledge of VAT law.
• You are passionate about your subject and want to contribute to our company with a lot of commitment.
• You are open, outgoing and enjoy working in a team.
• You work independently, are service‑oriented and have the will to constantly improve yourself.
• You demonstrate a great knowledge of Excel and have strong analytical skills.
• You are fluent in English and have at least B1 level of German.
