ALettershop Machine Operator is responsible for operating and controllingequipment to produce mail products—including printed materials, envelopes, andmail pieces—per customer specifications and standard operating procedures. Thisrole ensures the efficient, accurate, and high-quality production of outputwhile maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Essential Functions
- Prepare pallets and trays,identify pallet and tray breaks, and sort product accordingly
- Read and interpret productionorders to determine item types, sizes, and codes for printing and mailing.
- Prepare paper rolls and load them intothe mailing equipment.
- Load inserting and envelope materialsonto machines using loading racks.
- Operate machines that automaticallyfold letters, place inserts, address envelopes, and segregate destinationcodes.
- Monitor machine operations to detectand troubleshoot malfunctions promptly.
- Use computer-controlled equipment todirect mail items according to routing schemes.
- Determine mailing methods and preparemail for delivery to postal facilities.
- Sort outgoing mail into bins based ondestination or type and affix appropriate identification tags.
- Perform light maintenance tasks such asadding ink, filling paste reservoirs, clearing jams, and performing minorrepairs.
- Conduct quality checks on machineoutput to identify defects and implement corrective actions.
- Adjust guides, rollers, envelopes, andinsertion bins using rulers and hand tools for proper operation.
- Adhere to schedules and productionplans to ensure the timely completion of tasks.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organizedwork environment.
- Follow established procedures andsafety protocols, working within company safety standards, rules, andprotocols
- Performs other duties that may beassigned
Requirements
- Skilled in machineoperations and monitoring
- Must be able to lift to50 pounds
- Knowledge of Productionand Processing
- Reliability and dependability.
- Solid verbal andwritten communication skills, along with conflict resolution
- Adaptable andflexible with ever-changing priorities
