Role Responsibilities
- Work closely with Market Analysts, Traders, and Originators in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Monitor and interpret weather data from various sources to provide accurate and timely forecasts.
- Build databases with meteorological parameters and historical forecasts for model testing and analysis.
- Stay updated with the latest research, forecasting technology, and vendor products.
- Be a dedicated team player with good communication skills. Meteorologists and markets start early, so be prepared.
- Based at our headquarters in Essen, Germany, with options for partial remote work and occasional travel within Europe.
Role Qualifications
- Experience with numerical weather prediction models and synoptic forecasting techniques.
- Knowledge of weather/climate models and data formats, ideally with model development experience.
- Experience in synoptic weather forecasting, preferably in renewables, aviation, civil services, or private sector.
- Understanding of climate indices, teleconnections, and seasonal weather/climate projections.
- Proficiency in time series analysis and multivariate statistics.
- Python skills; experience with Matlab and MS Office.
- Experience in European, US, or global energy markets, trading, or agriculture is a plus.
- Degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric, or Climate Sciences.
- Availability to work occasionally on holidays or weekends.
- Fluent in English.
