We are seeking an R&D Scientist (m/f/d) to join our team in Bremen or Athens.

The R&D Scientist will be responsible for research and development in the field of fast ion detection and signal digitalization used in time-of-flight mass spectrometers.

  • Develop and optimize ion detection and signal processing for time-of-flight mass spectrometers.
  • Participate in research and development of Bruker’s time-of-flight instruments.

Tasks:

  • Innovate: Identify and explore new ion detection hardware and digital processing technologies. Drive innovation internally and with key suppliers. Stay connected with the research community through networking and business trips. Develop expertise through modeling and simulations, matching experimental data. Enhance our IP by submitting ideas for patent applications.
  • Productize: Design, perform, and supervise experiments to qualify solutions and evaluate results. Execute our R&D process to transfer innovations into revenue-generating products. Support design transfer to production and provide third-level support internally and to customers.

**Qualifications:**

  • Diploma or PhD in Physics, Electronics, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in mass spectrometry instrumentation, ideally time-of-flight.
  • Hands-on experience in electronics, especially RF, transmission lines, waveguides.
  • Programming skills in Python, LabVIEW, or C#.
  • Experience with ion and electronic simulations using COMSOL, SPICE, or SIMION is a plus.
  • Analytical, logical, and innovative thinking.
  • Good communication skills and team-oriented mindset.
  • Self-organized, precise, and results-oriented work style.
  • Fluent scientific English skills; spoken and written.
  • German language skills are an advantage.
