Senior / Principal Engineer - Product Testing and Failure Investigation (m/f/d)

Position Summary

For the Innovation Unit - Quality Engineering in Munich, Germany, LivaNova is seeking an innovative and ambitious engineer. The role involves testing and failure investigation of electro-mechanical products to support product development, lifecycle management, and quality improvement.

You will contribute to the quality strategy for Cardiopulmonary equipment, ensuring device effectiveness and safety for patients. The role supports various activities across product development, clinical, manufacturing, and global quality systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading technical failure investigations of software-driven electro-mechanical systems to identify root causes and improve reliability.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop test concepts, execute tests, and document findings.
  • Analyzing product defects from manufacturing, field complaints, or development failures.
  • Supporting quality and risk assessments, and developing technical solutions for corrective actions.
  • Maintaining and developing the quality investigation laboratory.
  • Writing investigation reports and risk assessments related to customer complaints and non-conformities.
  • Assessing broker goods as a quality SME.
  • Improving related processes and workflows.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Engineering degree (Bachelor or Master) in analog/digital techniques.
  • Additional technical training (electronics technician, telecom, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Extensive experience in electro-mechanical product testing and failure analysis.
  • Knowledge of microprocessor circuits, embedded systems, and HW/SW integration.
  • Proficiency in systematic error analysis, root cause analysis, and reliability methods (FTAs, FMEAs).
  • Understanding of physics, engineering principles, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and independent problem-solving skills.
