The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS is one of Europe's leading IC design facilities.

We combine many years of design expertise with established expertise in the fields of multimedia, digital communication, image processing, and sensor systems. The developments of our scientists are applied in automotive, household appliances, industrial technology, data transmission, lifestyle, and medical technology products. Our research focuses mainly on the design of analog circuits for ASICs.

  • Installing and configuring CAD systems, libraries, and process design kits (PDKs) for IC designers.
  • Ensuring smooth operation and serving as the first contact for colleagues.
  • Developing and administering cloud systems for access to CAD software and PDKs for external partners as part of public research projects.
  • Developing testbenches for PDK testing.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in electrical engineering focusing on microelectronics or computer science.
  • Confident handling of Linux systems, preferably RedHat / Rocky Linux.
  • Experience with scripting languages (tcsh, bash, perl, python, CadenceSkill).
  • Ideally, expertise in CAD systems (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Mentor) for IC development.
  • Experience with web servers and databases is advantageous.
  • Customer and service-oriented mindset, ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Proficiency in English; German language skills are a plus.

We offer a dynamic work environment with projects driven by practical impact, structured onboarding, flexible work arrangements, a positive work culture, and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

The position is initially limited to 2 years with possible extension. It is a 39-hour workweek, with options for part-time work, ideally close to full-time.

We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, promoting diversity and equal opportunity. Remuneration is based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVD).

Join us at Fraunhofer, where we develop key technologies vital for the future and support their transition to industry, shaping society through scientific excellence and innovation.

Please submit your application online, including cover letter, CV, and references.
