We are looking for a Senior Underwriter Liability (m / f / d), based in Munich, Frankfurt, Köln, Hamburg or Stuttgart.

As a member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic decisions, optimizing risk management strategies, and ensuring the sustainable growth of Allianz Commercial on a global scale.

The Impact You Will Have

You will underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet the line of business targets regionally including global elements. You will take ownership of large key accounts and clients including negotiation of participation, pricing and terms and conditions, as well as train and develop the team and act as referral point for senior underwriters. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients is crucial for this role.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include :

• Underwrite large complex new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets, in line with Liability governance framework (e.g., Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules, and Principles).
• Negotiate participation, pricing, and terms and conditions with brokers.
• Ensure accurate policy documentation and file maintenance.
• Proactively drive acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary).
• Manage referrals from underwriters and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate.
• Represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market, including very large clients.
• Proactively involve functional areas in the underwriting process, such as Allianz Risk Consulting, Claims, and Operations.
• Propose an optimal portfolio structure and anticipate portfolio development trends.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• A degree in Economics, Law, or a related discipline (preferably).
• Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII).
• Significant experience in cross-border underwriting profitable liability business, with understanding of products and portfolio management.
• Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to Liability.
• Well-established relationships with brokers and recognized expertise within the market.
• Expert understanding of regional/local insurance markets, legal and regulatory frameworks, including global elements.
• Robust understanding of policy administration lifecycle, data collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellations.
• Ability to analyze data from various sources and draw appropriate conclusions.
• Experience working in complex, global matrix organizations.
• Fluent German and good English skills.
• Experience in applying AI and ML to improve business processes is highly beneficial.
