Network Security Engineer

We are now looking for an experienced and ambitious Network Security Engineer for our international team who will enjoy a fast-developing international working environment.

What will you do?

Your main tasks will consist of operation, development, and maintenance of network security infrastructure. As a Network Security Engineer (junior/medior/senior), you will have a varied job with broad responsibilities, including managing client access networks (LAN/WiFi), distribution networks (WAN/LAN), and data center networks. You will utilize your expertise to safeguard Vattenfall's network against threats using firewalls, proxies, IDS/IPS, etc. Additionally, you will provide security consultancy and risk assessments for new projects.

We use various hardware manufacturers, which offers opportunities for development and broad expertise.

Location

You can choose to be based in Amsterdam, Berlin, or Solna. We offer hybrid working but not fully remote. Only candidates already living near these locations will be considered. Some travel may be required, e.g., for project or team meetings (approximately once a month).

Qualifications

You bring a structured working style and take initiative to drive your work and development forward. You are motivated, innovative, creative, and think outside the box with IT security as a core principle. A strong drive to learn and develop is essential.

To succeed in this role, we believe you have at least 3 years of experience in:

• Web proxy operations
• Network security (Cisco, FortiGate, SkyHigh, Checkpoint)
• Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
• Firewall operations
• Network infrastructure operation and monitoring
• WAN, LAN, Routing
• ITIL frameworks
• Fluent in English (German/Swedish beneficial)

Ideally, you also have some of the following:

• Basic scripting/programming skills (e.g., Python, Perl)
• Experience with load balancers
• Wireless controllers
• Administrative tools and network management systems
• Knowledge of main market network products

On-call shifts are part of the work.
