Mechanical Design Engineer – Closures Engineering
Be part of a growing Closures team to engineer, execute, and deliver innovative products globally. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to launch new products for Europe and other markets.

What You'll Do

• Support Closures System development for Tesla vehicle lines, including structural panels, mechanisms, sealing, and glazing.
• Design, engineer, and launch closure components, meeting appearance, function, quality, cost, and weight targets.
• Collaborate with design and styling teams to balance form, function, and quality; support manufacturing and material selection.
• Interpret CAE simulation results and incorporate feedback into designs.
• Manage and collaborate with suppliers to meet development milestones and production events.
• Evaluate design approaches using tools like DFMEA, fault tree analysis, etc.
• Act as a technical expert at Tesla Gigafactory Berlin, troubleshooting complex issues.
• Support global sourcing decisions and manage supplier quality and timelines.
• Contribute insights from European markets to global product development.
• Implement local and regional changes for closure products.

• Bachelor’s or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, with +5 years of experience in Closures Design.
• Proactive, ethical, and passionate about engineering challenges.
• Innovative mindset and willingness to resolve engineering issues hands-on.
• Experience in at least two of the following: structural closures, electro-mechanisms, sealing, glazing, or closures testing.
• Knowledge of engineering tools like DFSS, DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, etc.
• Familiarity with quality tools such as Six Sigma, Lean, SPC.
• Experience with vehicle and component testing, homologation, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in CAD software like Catia V5/3DX.
• Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects.
• Plus: experience with prototype methods, 3D printing, CMM, and scanning technologies.
