Schneider Electric GmbH: Integration (Electronic and Mechanical) Senior Design Engineer (f/m/d)

Location: Regensburg (Germany)

We are seeking an Integration (Electronic and Mechanical) Senior Design Engineer (f/m/d) with a strong background in designing medium voltage power electronics converters.

You will work on the mechanical design and development of innovative and reliable converter solutions, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams of electrical and software engineers.

Your IMPACT:

1. Support the development of a new Medium Voltage power converter, including indoor and outdoor cabinets, containers, etc., from concept generation through prototyping, testing, production, and maintenance.
2. Contribute significantly to the thermal design of the converter to ensure optimal thermal performance and system reliability.
3. Provide practical engineering solutions for design, troubleshooting, and issue identification affecting cost and reliability, both before and after installation.
4. Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
5. Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams to develop cost-effective and manufacturable designs.
6. Prepare design reports and specifications.
7. Write test specifications and reports for mechanical tests based on standards.
8. Create innovative designs from specifications, including drawings and assembly details for components like busbars and cooling units.

Your profile:

1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSc or PhD).
2. Several years of successful experience in electromechanical design.
3. Experience in design, development, and integration of power electronics converters and related components, with an understanding of vibration and EMC management.
4. Strong thermal management skills, including liquid and air-cooling systems, and practical knowledge of equipment like chillers, pumps, and heat exchangers.
5. Good understanding of grounding, shielding, insulation, and EMC, including tolerance analysis.
6. Knowledge of material costs and delivery timelines.
7. Familiarity with industrial standards and regulations relevant to mechanical design of power converters.
8. Proficiency in 3D CAD software for designing and optimizing mechanical components.
