Company Overview:
We are supporting a global Tier 1 automotive supplier specializing in the design, development, and manufacture of high-performance interior systems and advanced plastic components. Serving leading OEMs worldwide, they pride themselves on innovation, precision, and continuous improvement. With multiple manufacturing and engineering facilities across North America, Europe, and Asia, we are seeking a strategic and hands-on Vice President of Quality to lead and elevate our global quality organization.
Role Summary:
The VP of Quality will serve as the top quality executive, responsible for setting the global quality strategy, ensuring flawless program launches, driving operational excellence, and maintaining compliance with OEM and regulatory standards. This leader will oversee all aspects of quality across product development, manufacturing, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a global quality strategy aligned with business objectives and customer expectations.
- Lead and mentor a multi-site quality team including Directors, Managers, Engineers, and Auditors across regions.
- Oversee quality systems, standards, and certifications (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA, etc.).
- Ensure robust APQP, PPAP, and launch quality processes for new programs.
- Drive proactive problem-solving through structured methodologies (8D, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).
- Serve as the key interface with OEMs and major customers for quality performance, audits, and escalations.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce PPM, scrap, warranty claims, and customer complaints.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
- Utilize data analytics and KPIs to monitor performance and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and Program Management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field (Master’s preferred).
- 15+ years of progressive experience in automotive quality, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
- Strong experience within Tier 1 environments, preferably with a focus on interior systems and/or plastic injection molding.
- Deep understanding of global automotive quality standards and systems (IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, etc.).
- Proven track record of leading multi-site and global teams.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex OEM relationships and leading through audits/crisis recovery.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
- Willingness to travel globally as required.
