Senior Software Engineer Computer Vision fmd

We are a startup at the forefront of agricultural innovation, specializing in the development of harvesting robots for strawberries. Our mission is to revolutionize strawberry harvesting, making it more efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective.

Tasks

Role Overview: You will work on the computer vision pipeline used in our harvesting robots. Our robots operate in greenhouses and face highly dynamic environments. Challenges include changing light conditions, moveable targets, and a diverse set of objects to distinguish. The vision system's extracted information will be used to navigate the robot and pick strawberries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Rapid prototyping of designs and ideas on real hardware
• Code review and mentoring junior developers
• Development of algorithms for panoptic segmentation of the environment
• 3D object detection, including generation of collision objects using sensors like LIDAR and stereo cameras, and processing point clouds
• Integrating new vision sensors to improve environmental understanding
• Developing vision-based tracking methods

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of professional experience with image recognition neural networks and 3D vision sensors
• Degree in computer science, robotics, computer vision, or a related field
• Proficiency with Python, PyTorch, Docker, Linux, Git
• Experience with autoexposure and white balance algorithms
• A passion for innovative solutions and creative problem-solving in robotics
• Fluency in English; German language skills are a plus
• Driver's license class B
