As part of their ongoing growth, they are seeking a VP of Accounting and Shared Services to play a pivotal role in reshaping their accounting function and driving operational excellence. This leadership position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the accounting processes and systems within the organization. The role is based in Berlin, Germany. What the job involves
Taking responsibility for the restructuring of the entire accounting function, transforming it into a process-oriented organization. The role involves leading the implementation of a new ERP system and building a Shared Service Centre for accounts receivable and payable
Managing the preparation of individual financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual), ensuring compliance with HGB (and potentially IFRS), and overseeing the timely and accurate coordination of the entire closing process
Team Leadership: Leading and developing accounting teams at both the company and hotel level, including regional structures
Managing a team of around 60 accountants across four teams
Ensuring adherence to legal and internal regulations, improving internal control systems (IKS), and driving the development of accounting processes, standards, and systems to enhance efficiency and quality
Working closely with the SVP of Finance and other departments, particularly Operations, Legal, and IT, to support the integration of new hotels and brands into the company's accounting setup
Leading the transformation of the accounting department, focusing on process improvements and the alignment of accounting functions with business growth
Who we are looking for
University degree in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting, Finance, or a comparable qualification
Multiple years of professional experience in accounting and finance, ideally in a multi-entity organization
Deep knowledge of HGB is essential, with IFRS knowledge being a plus
Proven experience in leading large teams and managing organizational change, especially in finance functions
Strong experience with accounting systems and reporting tools, as well as ERP systems (e.g., SAP, DATEV, or similar)
Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of managing cross-functional teams
Experience in building shared service organizations and leading finance function transformations will be a key asset for success in this role
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and entrepreneurial mindset
Proficient communication and leadership skills
Fluency in written and spoken German and English
