Job summary

GME International S.A.S. in Medellín, Colombia, seeks a technical lead for our Medellín team to keep the platform stable, secure, recoverable and cost-efficient, and to coordinate with the US business team.

You will run production infrastructure on AWS, codify with Terraform, and lead a 2–3 engineer team while building CI/CD with security scanning and staging environments. Remote/hybrid work is included.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in infrastructure/DevOps or backend in production.
• 3+ years running AWS in production.
• Experience leading engineers.
• C1 English, spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Run production infrastructure on AWS: availability, scaling, patching, monitoring and cost.
• Codify the existing infrastructure in Terraform, production included.
• Lead a team of 2–3 engineers: plan the work, review code and grow the team.
• Build CI/CD with security scanning, reversible deployments and a staging environment.
• Secure the platform: least-privilege IAM, secrets and encryption, networking.
• Own backups, disaster recovery and data retention.
• Handle production incidents and lead post-mortems.
• Report to the US team in English: status, estimates and documentation.
• Support the technical evaluation and integration of companies the group acquires.

Company: GME International S.A.S.

Location: Medellín, Colombia. Hybrid: 3 days in the office, 2 from home.

Compensation (your choice):

Full-time employee, indefinite-term contract: COP 11,000,000 to 17,000,000 per month, depending on experience, plus all Colombian statutory benefits.

Independent contractor: USD 4,000 to 5,000 per month, depending on experience.

GME International is the technology team of a business group with products across several industries. We run data and IoT platforms on AWS in production with real customers: connected devices send near-real-time telemetry that we process and show in web portals and a mobile app. The group keeps acquiring and operating new companies, so this role grows with it. The mission

Be the technical lead of our Medellín team. Keep the platform stable, secure, recoverable and cost-efficient, and be the technical link to our US business team.

What you'll do

• Run production infrastructure on AWS: availability, scaling, patching, monitoring, alerting and cost.
• Codify the existing infrastructure in Terraform, production included.
• Lead a team of 2–3 engineers: plan the work, review code (including AI-generated code) and grow the team.
• Build CI/CD with security scanning, reversible deployments and a staging environment.
• Secure the platform: least-privilege IAM, secrets and encryption (Secrets Manager, KMS), networking (VPC).
• Own backups, disaster recovery and data retention.
• Handle production incidents and lead post-mortems.
• Report to the US team in English: status, estimates and documentation.
• Support the technical evaluation and integration of companies the group acquires.

Must-haves

• 6+ years in infrastructure, DevOps/SRE or backend in production, including 3+ years running AWS in production.
• Terraform (or other IaC), Docker and CI/CD.
• Experience leading other engineers.
• Cloud security: IAM, networking, secrets management.
• C1 English, spoken and written.

Nice to have

• Node.js/TypeScript (NestJS) and PostgreSQL.
• AWS ECS/Fargate, Lambda, IoT Core (MQTT), SQS/SNS, EventBridge, RDS, ElastiCache.
• IoT or time-series databases.
• AWS certifications.
• Having codified hand-built infrastructure.
• Methodical use of AI tools.
