WSP COLOMBIA SAS seeks an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and rehabilitation of dams and hydroelectric facilities in Bogotá. You will coordinate across geotechnical, hydrotechnical, electrical, mechanical, and environmental teams to deliver safe, compliant projects.

Apply advanced tools (SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, MIDAS, ANSYS) and oversee calculations and documentation while guiding professionals in English and French.

Formación

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering or related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Ph.D. in Structural Engineering asset consideration.
  • Professional Engineer designation preferred.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead structural design, analysis, and assessment of dams and related hydro infrastructure.
  • Perform advanced analyses of reinforced concrete, steel, and hydraulic structures.
  • Coordinate with geotechnical, civil, hydrotechnical, electrical, mechanical, and environmental teams.
  • Prepare calculations, design criteria, technical specifications, and construction docs.
  • Assess static, dynamic, seismic, hydraulic, thermal, and environmental loads.
  • Support dam safety assessments, risk evaluations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review submittals, shop drawings, and construction methodologies.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Communicate with clients in English and French.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the structural design, analysis, and assessment of dams, spillways, intake structures, powerhouses, penstocks, retaining structures, and related infrastructure.
  • Perform advanced analyses of reinforced concrete, steel, composite, and hydraulic structures.
  • Lead structural assessments, rehabilitation studies, and asset management programs for hydroelectric and dam facilities.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, design criteria, technical specifications, reports, and construction documentation.
  • Conduct evaluations considering static, dynamic, seismic, hydraulic, thermal, and environmental loading conditions.
  • Support dam safety assessments, risk evaluations, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, civil, hydrotechnical, electrical, mechanical, and environmental specialists.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Participate in site inspections, construction reviews, and resolution of structural issues.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and construction methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, regulations, and dam safety requirements.
  • Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and proposal preparation.
  • Act as a technical advisor to clients and stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams and clients in English and French.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ph.D. in Structural Engineering is considered an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or equivalent) designation is preferred.
Experience
  • More than 10 years of professional experience in structural engineering.
  • Extensive experience in hydroelectric, dam, water resources, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in the design, assessment, and rehabilitation of reinforced concrete and steel structures.
  • Experience with hydraulic structures, dam engineering, and power generation facilities.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects through feasibility, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operation.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
  • Extensive experience with reinforced concrete, steel, and hydraulic structures.
  • Proficiency with SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, MIDAS, ANSYS, or similar software.
  • Understanding of seismic analysis and design for critical infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Canadian, North American, and international structural design standards.
  • Experience performing structural assessments, rehabilitation studies, and life-cycle evaluations.
  • Ability to review and approve engineering calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
Language Requirements
  • Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal) – Mandatory.
  • Advanced French proficiency (written and verbal) – Mandatory.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, proposals, presentations, and client communications in both languages.
