Job summary

Abstra is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer to shape secure software development, lead automation initiatives, and mentor teams across time zones. Location: Colombia, 100% remote with working hours aligned to CST/EST.

The role requires deep cloud, Kubernetes, and observability expertise, with a focus on reliable, cost-aware service delivery. You will collaborate with delivery teams to drive architectural improvements and production readiness.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering experience running high-availability systems in production.
• Proficiency in a high-level programming language, such as Python or Go, as well as Bash scripting and Linux.
• Proficiency in modern technical operating practices.
• Experience in system architecture and design.
• Experience with CI/CD using Jenkins, FluxCD, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including the use of Terraform modules.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of SRE principles and practices.
• Experience with Kubernetes cluster concepts and design.
• Experience improving service observability through monitoring agents, metrics, logging, and dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Define repeatable practices for service delivery through modular, reusable automation and a developer platform that enables the self‑service delivery of services.
• Participate in governance controls that reduce risk and promote standardization across the organization.
• Refine a set of high‑level enablement practices, such as design reviews, service launch coordination, production readiness assessments, service‑level objective definition and review, incident management, and cost awareness, to support delivery teams at various phases of their service lifecycle and maturity.
• Collaborate closely with the company’s delivery teams to define product‑specific metrics and remediations through system analysis, testing, and fault troubleshooting.
