SGS is the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company with a global network. The Senior Software Engineer (VB) will design, develop, implement, and continually improve internal applications using VB/VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, and SQL databases.

You will lead projects throughout the SDLC, ensure technical quality, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work setup in Bogotá.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of software development experience, including senior-level exposure.
• Strong expertise in VB/VB.NET, C#, .NET, ASP.NET, APIs, and SQL databases.
• Solid experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Knowledge of SDLC, design patterns, testing, and OOP.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
• Advanced English level required.

Job Description

The Senior Software Engineer (VB) role is focused on the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of complex internal software applications, primarily using Visual Basic (VB / VB.NET), C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, and Microsoft/Oracle databases. The position leads development projects and is involved in the full software development life cycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support. It is responsible for ensuring technical quality, maintaining and optimizing existing systems, and delivering scalable business solutions.

A strong emphasis is placed on Visual Basic expertise, as this skill is key for maintaining, enhancing, and modernising existing business-critical applications. The role also requires strong experience in APIs, relational databases, and software engineering best practices within collaborative environments. They are seeking an analytical, self-driven, customer-oriented professional with strong problem-solving skills, project management capabilities, and advanced English communication skills.
