AdAstra in Los Angeles Metro seeks a Sr. Structures Engineer to design, build, and test reactor hardware for a 25 MWe pilot reactor. You will own complex structures and drive design success with rigorous analysis and testing.

You will lead technical efforts, perform trade studies, coordinate with manufacturers, and mentor junior engineers to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 5 years of engineering experience designing, analyzing, and building mechanical hardware.
• Experience acting as a technical lead and guiding other engineers to results.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build and test pressure vessels, containment structures, seismic isolation, and secondary structures for the pilot nuclear reactor
• Carry out trade studies for optimal structural materials, balancing cost, mass, strength, corrosion resistance, and manufacturability
• Validate reliability of designs with rigorous testing: thermal cycling, pressure cycling, shock, vibration, radiation embrittlement, and corrosion.
• Work with manufacturers to understand process limitations and adapt designs for lead times and manufacturability
• Collaborate with peers from different systems to balance cost, efficiency, and deployment logistics
• Support assembly of hardware in the factory and mentor junior structures engineers
