Job summary

PayJoy in Bogotá is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, high-performance applications.

The role centers on backend services with Django, frontend Vue.js, RESTful APIs, and microservices in a fast-paced fintech environment. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and Engineering, and contribute to architecture and code quality in Agile ceremonies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer.
• Strong proficiency in software engineering principles, design patterns, and modern development practices.
• Strong experience developing backend applications using Python.
• Experience building scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable applications using Django and Vue.js.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Design, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, ensuring performance, scalability, and data integrity.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, testing, and Agile ceremonies.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code and contribute to continuous improvements in engineering practices.
• Mentor other engineers and support knowledge sharing across the team.

This role

The ideal candidate has strong experience building backend services with Django, developing modern web applications with Vue.js, designing RESTful APIs, and implementing microservices that support high-volume, mission-critical systems.

• Experience integrating internal and third-party APIs.
• Proficiency with Git for version control.
• Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with automated testing, test-driven development (TDD), and code reviews.
• Experience documenting software functionality and reviewing the work of other engineers.
