AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking a Senior/Lead DevOps Engineer to deploy and operationalize a new Kubernetes-based cloud environment on AWS for a short-term project. The role requires 5+ years in DevOps/SRE/Platform Eng. and 4+ years with Kubernetes in production.

You will lead deployment, implement GitOps with Argo CD, and collaborate across application, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure security, reliability, and scalable operation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of DevOps, SRE, Platform Eng., or Cloud Eng. experience.
• 4+ years deploying Kubernetes in production.
• Experience deploying and operating AWS-hosted apps.
• Experience leading technical implementation with minimal supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes, EKS, and Helm.
• Strong experience with Argo CD and Service Mesh techs.
• Strong experience with ingress controllers, networking, storage, and cluster ops.
• Strong experience with AWS services (VPC, EC2, EKS, IAM, Route 53, ALB/NLB, RDS, CloudWatch, S3, Secrets Manager, Systems Manager).
• Experience with GitLab, GitLab CI/CD, GitOps, IaC, and Terraform.
• Experience with Bash, Python, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Lead deployment of a new cloud environment within AWS or another cloud.
• Ensure deployment follows security, reliability, and operational best practices.
• Partner with application, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
• Deploy and manage workloads on Kubernetes platforms.
• Troubleshoot cluster, networking, ingress, storage, and workload issues.
• Support application modernization and containerization efforts.
• Implement platform standards and operational guardrails.
• Design and enhance GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement deployment automation and release workflows.
• Establish GitOps deployment patterns using Argo CD.
• Improve traceability, repeatability, and deployment reliability.
• Develop infrastructure with Terraform and related tooling.
• Reduce manual deployment activities through automation.
• Configure platform monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards.
• Support production readiness reviews and runbooks.
• Establish reliability practices and incident response procedures.
• Identify bottlenecks and performance issues across cloud/K8s.
• Evaluate deployment practices and operational processes.
• Document platform architecture and deployment procedures.
• Produce runbooks and knowledge-transfer docs for support teams.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior/Lead DevOps Engineer to deploy and operationalize a new Kubernetes-based cloud environment on AWS for a short-term project.

MUST HAVES

• 5+ years of DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Engineering experience.
• 4+ years supporting Kubernetes in production environments.
• Demonstrated experience deploying and operating AWS-hosted applications.

• Strong experience with AWS services, including VPC, EC2, EKS, IAM, Route 53, ALB/NLB, RDS, CloudWatch, S3, Secrets Manager, and Systems Manager Parameter Store.
• Experience with GitLab, GitLab CI/CD, GitOps workflows, Infrastructure as Code, and Terraform.
• Experience with Bash, Python, or Go.

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience with one or more of the following CNCF ecosystem technologies: Cilium, Hubble, Prometheus, Grafana, Fluent Bit, OpenTelemetry, Karpenter, Crossplane, Kyverno, Tetragon, ExternalDNS, and cert-manager.
• Experience with Backstage, Internal Developer Platforms, Self-Service Infrastructure, Golden Path Engineering, and Environment Automation.
• Experience with Robin Cloud Native Platform (Rakuten Symphony Robin).
• Experience migrating applications from on-premises environments to cloud-hosted Kubernetes.
• Experience supporting healthcare, medical device, HIPAA, or regulated environments.
