Job summary

Nix is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, to design and implement robust backend services and APIs. You will work across GraphQL and REST endpoints, integrate with relational and NoSQL databases, and build event-driven processing to improve product workflows.

Applicants should have strong TypeScript and Python experience, serverless deployment skills, and a collaborative, mentoring mindset for cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Proven backend contributions to production systems.
• Agentic development approach and ability to articulate practices.
• Strong experience with TypeScript and Python for server-side development.
• Experience designing, building, and integrating GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB/Firestore).
• Experience building and operating serverless functions (AWS Lambda or Cloud Run).
• Experience with automated testing, debugging, and production support for distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Git-based collaboration and CI workflows.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve backend services, GraphQL and REST APIs, and integrations powering applications.
• Design API contracts and data-access patterns for workflows.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases to deliver scalable behavior.
• Build asynchronous and event-driven processing for resilience.
• Improve testing, observability, performance, and operational readiness.
• Own substantial work from implementation through deployment and production support.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, design, and data teams to deliver capabilities.
• Contribute to code reviews and shared engineering practices.
