EdgeUno, a US-based tech infrastructure company with a Colombian footprint, seeks a Senior AI Automation Engineer to design and build internal AI systems in Medellín, working remotely with the Chief of AI. You will architect AI agents, automation workflows, and dashboards that scale across operations, sales, marketing, finance, HR, and engineering.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior AI Automation Engineer to join our team in Medellín, working remotely and closely with our Chief of AI to design and build internal AI systems that function as digital teammates across different areas of the company.

This role focuses on architecting and delivering AI agents, internal tools, and automation workflows that integrate with EdgeUno's systems and data to streamline operations and reduce repetitive manual work at scale.

You will work closely with leadership and internal teams to identify, prioritize, and execute opportunities where AI can automate tasks, improve productivity, and accelerate decision-making across operations, sales, marketing, finance, HR, and engineering. We are not looking for someone who is still learning the fundamentals, but a practitioner who has already built and shipped real AI systems in production environments and can operate with significant autonomy.

Core Responsibilities

AI Agent Development

• Design and build AI-powered tools and internal assistants that help teams automate daily tasks at scale.
• Develop AI agents capable of generating reports, summarizing communications, and supporting complex internal workflows end-to-end.
• Build knowledge assistants trained on company documentation and internal knowledge bases.
• Lead prototyping and experimentation with new AI capabilities, evaluating technical feasibility and production viability.

AI Workflow Automation

• Architect automation workflows combining LLMs, structured data, APIs, and internal systems.
• Develop automation tools that connect multiple platforms used across the company.
• Create AI-driven internal dashboards, reports, and operational summaries.
• Automate repetitive tasks across departments such as sales, marketing, operations, and support.

System Integration

Integrate AI systems with internal company tools, including:

• CRM platforms
• Slack or Microsoft Teams
• Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
• Ticketing and support systems
• Internal databases and APIs

• Ensure reliability, observability, and maintainability of AI tools integrated with internal platforms.

Technical Leadership & Continuous Improvement

• Define technical standards and best practices for AI development within the team.
• Continuously improve AI tools based on feedback from internal teams, monitoring performance and iterating fast.
• Evaluate and adopt new AI models, automation tools, and frameworks with a critical and practical lens.
• Maintain thorough documentation for AI workflows and automation systems.
• Proactively identify new opportunities where AI can increase efficiency across the company and bring structured proposals to leadership.

Requirements

• English B2 or higher.
• Based in Medellín, Colombia (remote position, but proximity to the Chief of AI is required).
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI, or related fields.
• Strong, proven experience programming in Python or TypeScript.
• Solid experience with AI APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar providers, including production use cases.
• Demonstrated experience building and shipping AI agents or AI-powered applications in real environments, not just personal experiments.
• Experience working with APIs, system integrations, and multi-platform automation at a professional level.
• Ability to operate autonomously, make sound technical decisions, and deliver end-to-end without heavy oversight.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business problems into scalable AI solutions.

Portfolio Requirement (Mandatory)

Applicants must include a portfolio demonstrating AI or automation projects. At the senior level, preference is given to projects that have been deployed and used in real contexts over purely experimental work.

Your portfolio may include:

• AI agents or AI-powered applications
• Automation tools or workflow systems
• GitHub repositories
• Demos or videos of working tools
• Projects involving AI or software development deployed in production or used by real users

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar tools.
• Experience with workflow automation platforms such as Zapier, n8n, or Make.
• Understanding of vector databases, embeddings, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
• Experience with observability and monitoring of AI systems in production.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) applied to AI workloads.
• Experience using Git and working within collaborative development workflows.
