Job summary

BairesDev is seeking a Backend Engineer (Scala) to design and develop high-performance backend services and data-heavy applications using functional programming on the JVM. You will ensure scalability and reliability while collaborating with global teams to set architectural standards.

We require 4+ years in software engineering with a focus on functional programming, Scala expertise, and proficiency with Akka or Play. Excellent English is a must.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on functional programming.
• Proven expertise in building backend services and data-heavy applications using Scala.
• Proficiency with Akka or Play frameworks for scalable, concurrent systems.
• Strong understanding of JVM internals and SQL for performance optimization and data persistence.
• Hands-on experience applying functional programming patterns to ensure code reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend services using Scala and FP patterns.
