Job summary

Azumo is hiring a Data Scientist to determine the right business questions, select appropriate methods, and validate results before production. You will design experiments, fine-tune models with PEFT, and ensure rigorous handover with clear metrics.

The role operates remotely across Latin America, aligning to client time zones. You will work within Azumo's data and AI engineering lanes, collaborating with data engineers, AI engineers, and software engineers to ship measurable value for

Qualifications

• Five-plus years building and validating models for real decisions.
• Hands-on PyTorch or equivalent for training and optimization.
• Strong command of pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn.
• Solid statistics and experimental design knowledge.
• Experience with fine-tuning pretrained models (LoRA/PEFT).
• Experience with ML experiments, tracking, and MLOps practices.
• Cloud experience with AWS, GCP or Azure AI services.
• Excellent written and spoken English (C1+).
• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/DS or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Define the question and translate it into measurable success metrics.
• Choose methods and models, justify when a simpler approach is better.
• Fine-tune or adapt pretrained models with PEFT techniques.
• Design experiments with baselines, holdouts, offline/online evaluation.
• Analyze errors and hand over with documentation and metrics.
• Collaborate in client environments and adhere to SOC 2/HIPAA when applicable.
