Modus Create is seeking a Principal Backend Software Engineer to accelerate the engineering roadmap for a leading SaaS platform in sports technology. Qualifications

• 8+ years of production software engineering experience.
• 4+ years building backend microservices and REST APIs with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Strong experience designing distributed, idempotent, and event-driven systems.
• Hands-on experience with Express.js and separations of concerns.
• Understanding of backend architecture, API design, reliability, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience using Claude Code or AI-assisted development tools.
• Ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases and drive solutions with minimal oversight.
• Strong product thinking and value-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Own feature execution for backend services and systems.
• Navigate unfamiliar codebases and identify dependencies.
• Contribute to video/content delivery, e-commerce, monetization, scheduling, and team management domains.
• Collaborate with distributed backend/frontend/mobile/platform teams.
• Leverage Claude Code to accelerate development, testing, and technical discovery.
