Job summary

Viasat is seeking a mid‑level PCB CAD designer in the San Jose Bay Area to perform PCB design tasks including placement, routing, DRC/DFM checks, and documentation using Siemens Xpedition. You will collaborate with mechanical, NPI and test teams to ensure interfaces and tolerances meet project requirements.

Ideal candidates have 2–3+ years of PCB design experience, 3+ years with Siemens Xpedition/CES/EDM, and an associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of PCB design experience.
• 3+ years of direct experience using Siemens Xpedition, CES, and EDM.
• Basic understanding of PCB fabrication processes, tolerances, and IPC standards.
• Experience with digital/via stacks, RF/Analog, or mixed PCB layouts.
• Familiar with schematic capture and working with mechanical engineering interfaces.
• Knowledge of fabrication & assembly documentation and PLM systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform PCB design work including component placement, routing, DRC, DFM checks, and documentation.
• Utilize Siemens Xpedition layout tools (CES and EDM).
• Ensure designs follow IPC standards and company manufacturing guidelines.
• Participate in design entry and exit reviews.
• Review mechanical engineering data to ensure PCB/mechanical interfaces.
• Manage CAD data and documentation in the PLM system and support engineering changes.
• Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality PCBs.
