Koombea hires an AI-First Native Mobile Developer to build modern, scalable native apps for iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin). You will work in AI Pods with other AI-First developers, owning features end-to-end from architecture through deployment.

You will use AI coding tools to accelerate delivery, review AI-generated code, and integrate REST APIs and device capabilities, while maintaining performance and memory efficiency across platforms.

Responsibilities

The Job

As an AI-First Native Mobile Developer, your main goal is to build modern, scalable, and high-performing native applications for both iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin), using AI as your primary development workflow. You'll work within an AI Pods structure alongside other AI-First developers, designers, and delivery managers. You'll own mobile features end-to-end on both platforms, from architecture through deployment, and you'll be expected to keep raising the bar on how the team builds with AI.

What You'll Do

• Build and ship native iOS applications with Swift/SwiftUI and native Android applications with Kotlin/Jetpack Compose
• Own features end-to-end on both platforms, keeping architecture and behavior consistent between iOS and Android
• Use agentic AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) as your default workflow: writing context documents, managing AI-generated output, and running parallel tasks
• Design native mobile architectures (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture) that are clean, scalable, and easy for both humans and AI agents to work with
• Review and refactor AI-generated code with the same rigor you'd apply to any PR
• Integrate REST APIs, third-party SDKs, and native device capabilities
• Debug and resolve issues related to performance, crashes, memory, and scalability on both platforms
• Contribute to code reviews, technical decisions, and engineering best practices

What You Bring To The Team

Must Have Skills

• 5+ years of native mobile development experience
• Strong professional experience with Swift (SwiftUI and/or UIKit) building native iOS apps
• Strong professional experience with Kotlin (Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flows) building native Android apps
• Experience shipping and maintaining production apps on both the App Store and Google Play
• Strong programming fundamentals and native mobile architecture design
• Strong understanding of the app lifecycle, concurrency, memory management, and platform constraints on iOS and Android
• You can reason about unfamiliar codebases, debug complex issues, refactor with intent, and recognize when systems require structural improvements rather than surface-level fixes
• Experience reviewing and refactoring AI-generated code
• Experience with CI/CD for mobile (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or similar)
• Good English communication, written and spoken

Nice To Have

• Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) experience
• Experience building AI-powered features or integrating LLM APIs into mobile apps
• Familiarity with on-device ML or edge AI (Core ML, ML Kit)
• Mobile security and offline-first architecture experience
• Experience with native device APIs (Bluetooth, push notifications, biometrics, background tasks)
• Experience writing context documents or prompt strategies for AI coding agents
