Job summary

Pond & Company is seeking a Mid-level Structural Engineer to join our Bogotá office, focusing on industrial steel buildings, equipment supports, and foundations. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive structural engineering experience.
• Experience designing industrial steel buildings or other complex steel structures.
• Experience in seismic and non-seismic regions.
• Strong understanding of steel, reinforced concrete, and foundation design.
• Proficient with STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000, Ram Connections, RISA, IDEA StatiCa.
• Experience producing calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents.
• Knowledge of AISC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, IBC, and NSR-10.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Professional English and native-level Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support the design and analysis of structural systems for industrial, mission-critical, and commercial facilities.
• Design steel buildings and systems including frames, platforms, equipment supports, mezzanines, and related structures.
• Design and analyze reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundations.
• Evaluate seismic and non-seismic conditions and applicable loads.
• Perform structural analysis for equipment foundations, rooftops, and mechanical systems.
• Review steel connections, base plates, anchors, and embeds.
• Prepare calculations, criteria, reports, specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and equipment disciplines.
• Apply international and local codes including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360/341, ACI 318, NSR-10.
• Participate in design reviews, constructability and QA processes.
• Conduct assessments, field investigations, retrofit studies, and condition evaluations.
• Support construction administration and site observations.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and teams; mentor junior engineers.
