Job summary

Pond & Company seeks a Mid-level Structural Engineer to join our Bogotá, Colombia team, focusing on industrial steel buildings, seismic and non-seismic regions, and complex foundations. The role involves leading structural design activities across conceptual planning to construction documentation, with collaboration across architectural, civil, and mechanical disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive structural engineering experience; exceptional relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience designing and analyzing industrial steel buildings or other complex steel structures.
• Experience with seismic and non-seismic regions.
• Strong understanding of steel, reinforced concrete, and foundation design principles.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000, Ram Connections, RISA, IDEA StatiCa or similar tools.
• Working knowledge of AISC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, IBC, and NSR-10 (Colombia).
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Professional-level proficiency in English; native-level Spanish required.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support the design and analysis of structural systems for industrial, mission-critical, and commercial facilities.
• Design steel buildings and structural systems, including braced frames, moment frames, platforms, equipment supports, mezzanines, and ancillary structures.
• Design and analyze reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems.
• Evaluate structural systems for seismic and non-seismic conditions under various loads.
• Prepare structural calculations, design criteria, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordinate structural designs with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, and equipment disciplines.
• Apply international and local codes and standards in design and review processes.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to project standards.
