Bluelight is seeking a senior backend-focused software engineer to join a rapidly growing team. You will contribute to designing and building low-latency API services in AWS, implement secure multi-tenant architectures, and collaborate with frontend and QA to deliver high-quality applications.

The role requires 5+ years of backend experience with Node.js/TypeScript, a strong SQL foundation, and a proven track record in scalable RESTful APIs. US hours overlap and a Bachelor's degree are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (backend-focused).
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS.
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security.
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments.
• Writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (node-postgres, node-pg-migrate).
• Professional experience with React.
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases.
• Experience with AI coding assistants as part of daily development.
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance.

Requirements

• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
