Job summary

Pentice is seeking a Forward Engineer in Bogotá to translate ambiguous problems into concrete specs, decide priorities, and ship automated workflows. You will own the agent systems, integrate with external APIs like Guesty and Stripe, and ensure observability and cost control in production.

Strong AI tool experience and clear English communication are essential for collaboration with the CEO and Founding Engineer.

Qualifications

• Mid to senior software engineer with hands-on production experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript; React is a plus.
• Two or more real stories of problem → decision → shipped → measured with numbers.
• Experience integrating external APIs and webhooks, with idempotency and reconciliation awareness.
• Practical experience using AI as an engineering tool and judging outputs.
• Daily practice with AI development tools and responsibility for production code.
• Clear written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Take ambiguous business problems, define what matters, and write the specification.
• Decide what to build first, push back with a better proposal when needed.
• Build and ship workflows where automation meets operations: guest journey steps, messaging, pricing, and reporting signals.
• Own the agent systems behind those workflows: prompts, tool use, structured output, evaluation, observability, and cost.
• Build end-to-end integrations with Guesty, Stripe, and internal APIs: webhooks in, actions out, idempotent and observable.
• Ship behind one review and operate what you shipped in production.
• Measure every first production version: changes, impact, and how you know.
• Work daily with the CEO on what flows must do, reporting to the Founding Engineer.

• Build end-to-end integrations with Guesty, Stripe, and internal APIs: webhooks in, actions out, idempotent, reconciled, and observable.
• Ship behind one review and operate what you shipped in production.

Requirements

• Experience integrating external APIs and webhooks, with a clear understanding of why idempotency and reconciliation matter.
• Practical experience using AI as an engineering tool (agents, structured output, evaluation) and the judgment to catch wrong output.
• An active daily practice with AI development tools, while taking full responsibility for every line that reaches production.
• Clear written and spoken English: a CEO can follow you and an engineer can trust you.
