As an Engineering Manager you will lead multiple teams in the Protect & Engage area to analyze, design, develop and implement a suite of products used by millions of consumers daily. Working with distributed teams across Colombia, India, Serbia and more, you will drive the company's objectives while guaranteeing quality and operational excellence in all deliverables.

This is a management role focused on people, project and process leadership. It sits in the Verification team (Engineering & Customer Ops / CPaaS Omnichannel).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and operation of highly available, scalable, and secure cloud-native services that support 24x7 business-critical workloads, ensuring reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Drive the evolution of existing platforms and services while defining and implementing long‑term architectural strategies.
• Evaluate, recommend, and champion technology solutions through technical assessments, risk analysis, and side‑by‑side comparisons of emerging and established technologies, enabling informed business and engineering decisions.
• Partner closely with product, business, and cross‑functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, aligning organizational goals, customer needs, and engineering execution.
• Oversee the creation and execution of engineering test strategies, plans, and quality assurance processes derived from functional and technical specifications to ensure product reliability and customer satisfaction.
• Lead, mentor, coach, and develop engineers, fostering technical excellence, career growth, accountability, and a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices through architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and operational readiness assessments to improve product quality and reduce technical debt.
• Define, implement, and continuously improve the software development lifecycle, including standards, processes, tooling, release management, and operational practices that enhance team productivity and delivery predictability.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to drive technical roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, and balance short‑term delivery needs with long‑term platform investments.
• Manage engineering delivery by balancing technical priorities, resource allocation, staffing needs, and project commitments while maintaining high standards for quality, security, and customer experience.

Key Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting large‑scale distributed systems in production, delivering complex software solutions from concept through operation.
• Languages: English and Spanish.

Technical Competencies

• Strong experience with cloud-native architectures, preferably on AWS, including the design, deployment, monitoring, and operation of highly available, fault‑tolerant, and scalable services. Experience with S3, DynamoDB, EC2, Kinesis, API Gateway, CloudWatch, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, and related technologies, with a solid understanding of event‑driven and serverless architectures.
• Hands‑on development experience in Python, with a proven ability to design maintainable, performant, and secure applications following industry best practices.
• Deep understanding of software engineering best practices: object‑oriented design, design patterns, clean code, automated testing, test‑driven development (TDD), code quality standards, and CI/CD.
• Strong database experience, including SQL database design, query optimization, data modeling, and working knowledge of relational and NoSQL data stores.
• Proficiency with Git and modern source control workflows, including branching strategies, pull request reviews, release management, and collaborative development in distributed teams.
• Extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices, including authentication, authorization, performance optimization, observability, and versioning strategies.
• Practical experience with containerization technologies, including Docker, container orchestration concepts, and modern deployment practices in cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, sprint planning, backlog management, estimation techniques, continuous improvement, and iterative delivery.
