Bluelight LLC is seeking a backend-focused software developer to design and build high-performance services using Elixir and the Phoenix framework. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into scalable, reliable systems.

The role emphasizes ownership of features from conception through release, along with writing tests and contributing to a strong code culture. Remote work options and ongoing professional development are available.

Qualifications

3+ years of professional software development experience, backend focus.
Strong Elixir and Phoenix framework proficiency.
Experience with OTP, concurrent and distributed systems.
RESTful APIs design experience (and GraphQL) with PostgreSQL (Ecto) knowledge.
Strong product sense and a passion for building reliable, scalable systems.
Excellent communication and ability to work in an agile team.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain backend systems and APIs using Elixir and Phoenix.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into scalable services.
Own features from conception to release, including specs and testing.
Write unit/integration tests and participate in code reviews to ensure quality.
Identify bottlenecks, fix bugs, and improve performance and fault tolerance.
Stay up-to-date with Elixir ecosystem trends to drive innovation.
