Job summary

Blacksmith Agency is seeking a senior Design Systems Designer who owns how client design systems are built. You translate brands and reference sites into a working system of tokens, variables, modes, and core components that a build pipeline can execute with precision.

You will ship cross-brand component libraries, document the system for developers and automated pipelines, and work across several client brands with the same rigorous structure.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing for the web with design system work in your portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto layout, and variants.
• A portfolio where client work shows distinct brands but consistent underlying rigor.
• Strong English and overlap with US business hours.

Responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Document the system so a developer or an automated pipeline can execute it without questions.
