Job summary

Blacksmith Agency is seeking a senior Design Systems Designer to own how our client design systems get built. You will extract patterns from brands and reference sites into tokens, variables, modes, and core components that a build pipeline can execute without questions, ensuring precision across projects.

This is a senior, systems-first role focused on establishing scalable token architectures and reusable component libraries for multiple client brands, while collaborating with US-based teams

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing for the web with real design system work in portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto layout, and variants.
• Portfolio showing work across clients with consistent underlying rigor.
• Strong English and overlap with US business hours.

Responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Document the system so a developer or an automated pipeline can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands at once, each looking distinctly different, with the same structural rigor.

This is a senior, systems-first seat. Not one-off pages, not maintenance. You stand up new systems fast and get them right the first time, across several client brands at once.
