Job summary

BairesDev, a global technology company, is seeking a Software Engineer (Database) to develop and optimize core database engine internals. You will design high-performance storage and retrieval systems capable of handling complex data at scale, contributing to MVCC, WAL, and B-tree/LSM implementations.

This 100% remote role offers competitive USD compensation, flexible hours, and home-office setup. You will work with an international team, focusing on systems programming in C/C++/Rust, SQL

Qualifications

• 4+ years in software engineering focusing on database engine internals.
• Expertise in systems programming with C, C++, or Rust.
• Deep knowledge of storage engine internals (B-tree/LSM) and MVCC.
• Experience implementing replication protocols and WAL.
• Strong SQL semantics understanding and resource management.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine core engine components, including storage engines and query optimization logic.
• Implement MVCC-based concurrency control to ensure data consistency.
• Design and maintain persistence layers focusing on WAL and B-tree/LSM structures.
• Engineer distributed data systems with efficient replication protocols.
• Enhance SQL semantics handling and low-level resource management.
• Collaborate with systems architects to boost performance, scalability, and reliability of the database engine.
