Abbott is seeking a Data Scientist for its Bogota, Colombia office to join the Advanced Analytics team. You will develop data-driven solutions spanning manufacturing, forecasting, and supply chain, collaborating with business partners and engineers to deploy insights.

You will lead data collection, modeling, and visualization efforts, while writing production-quality Python/R code and extending existing analytics pipelines to new regions. Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

Formación

• B.S. in applied mathematics, computer science, engineering, or statistics.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in pharma.
• Strong experience in data mining, statistical modelling, predictive modelling, and ML algorithms.
• Programming in Python (preferred) or R
• Fluency in Spanish and English

Responsabilidades

• Participate/drive data collection, cleaning, analysis and interpretation (EDA).
• Collaborate with business partners to ideate on data-driven solutions.
• Generate insightful visualizations to communicate findings.
• Conduct model selection, validation, and deployment planning with engineering support.
• Write high quality, deployable code and documentation.
• Understand and extend existing code bases for regional use-cases.
• Share learnings with other data scientists in a collaborative environment.
• Lead analytics tasks in collaboration with Sr. Data Scientists.
• Maintain close contact with key business stakeholders and communities.
• Build AA solutions aligning with business needs and resources.
• Pursue continuous learning on latest trends and technologies.

About the Advanced Analytics team:

The central Advanced Analytics team at the Abbott Established Pharma Division’s (EPD) headquarters in Basel helps define and lead the transformation towards becoming a global, data-driven company with the help of data and advanced technologies (e.g., Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI, Computer Vision etc.). To us, Advanced Analytics is an important lever to reach our business targets, now and in the future; It helps differentiate ourselves from our competition and ensure sustainable revenue growth at optimal margins. Hence the central AA team is an integral part of the Strategy Management Office at EPD that has a very close link and regular interactions with the EPD Senior Leadership Team.

With the above requirements in mind, EPD is looking to fill a role of a Data Scientist,in Bogota, Colombiareporting to the Senior Manager Data Science Solutions. He/she must be internally driven with high level of ownership, responsible for developing impactful data driven solutions. He/she must be open to work on problems from diverse functions ranging from Optimized Manufacturing (Operations), Time series forecasting (Finance & Supply chain), Optimal route planning (Commercial) etc.

What you'll do

• Participate/drive data collection, cleaning, analysis and interpretation (EDA)
• Collaborate with the business partner and product owners to ideate on solutions to challenging problems
• Generate insightful visualizations to communicate findings
• Carry out model selection, validation and possible ways for deployment (in collaboration with the engineering team)
• Write high quality code with possibility of deployment in mind
• Understand the existing code base, extend and adapt it for deployment in a different region/use-case
• Share the learnings and findings with other data scientists contributing to the collaborative environment
• Collaborate with Sr. Data Scientists and take full responsibility for analysis and modeling tasks
• Help build and maintain a close contact to key business stakeholders and relevant communities
• Build effective and efficient AA solutions to business needs, leveraging available market resources as much as possible
• Keep himself/herself committed to continuous learning about the latest trends and technologies

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in applied mathematics, computer science, engineering, applied statistics.
• At least 3 years of relevant working experience, ideally in pharma environment
• Strong experience in e.g., data mining, statistical modelling, predictive modeling and development of machine learning algorithms
• Programming experience in Python (preferred) or R
• Fluency in Spanish and English a must, additional languages a plus
