ScotiaTech, Scotiabank's technology hub in Bogota, seeks a Data Engineer/ETL Developer to support ETL processes feeding the Enterprise Data Lake and regulatory reporting. You will contribute to designing and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring data quality and scalable performance.

The role requires 3–5 years of data engineering experience, strong IBM DataStage skills, SQL proficiency, and English at least B2+. It offers a dynamic, inclusive environment with competitive benefits at ScotiaTech.

Formación

• 3-5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or ETL developer is essential.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience with IBM DataStage ETL is a must.
• Experience with Big Data ecosystems (Hadoop) and relational databases (Oracle).
• Solid SQL and Data Quality skills are required.

Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the IB Technology & Transformation team (supporting Caribbean region) ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. This role will support the daily operation of ETL processes designed to ingest data into EDL (Enterprise Data Lake) from various sources, and to generate regulatory reports for ECR (English Caribbean Region) countries, which involves new developments/projects, maintenance and adjustments of existing ETL processes, and bug/incident resolution.

Accountabilities

• Champions a client centric culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.


• Functions as a member of an agile team and helps drive consistent development practices, tools usage, common components, and patterns.


• Participate in the full lifecycle of ETL development and maintenance initiatives, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support, ensuring high-quality and scalable data integration solutions.


• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain ETL processes using IBM DataStage, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, data quality, and adherence to enterprise architecture standards.


• Dimensional data modeling, designing and maintaining scalable Data Warehouse solutions


• Develop database and ETL capabilities to support all EDL ingestions related requirements.


• Troubleshoot and resolve complex ETL, database, data quality, and integration issues across development, testing, and production environments.


• Identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and operational efficiency within ETL development, monitoring, and support activities.


• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to‑day activities and decisions.


• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information

• 3-5 year’s experience working as a Data Engineer or ETL developer is essential.


• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering, or related field or relevant experience.


• Strong experience with IBM DataStage ETL is a must.


• Experience working with Big Data in Hadoop ecosystem and relational databases (Oracle).


• Strong proficiency in SQL and Data Quality.


• Azure Databricks experience is beneficial.


• Strong experience with structured and unstructured datasets, as well as solid skills with orchestration & ingestion/extraction of data.


• Data modelling, Data lake/Data warehousing experience.


• Experience with dimensional models (Dimensions and fact tables).


• Experience working in an Agile team environment.


• Ability to solve technical problems/ processes and understand complex details.


• English proficiency: Intermediate (B2+) or higher.

Working Conditions

• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence
