Job summary

Opella is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust data infrastructure and pipelines. You will collaborate with data scientists and analysts to ensure data accessibility, accuracy, and actionable insights across cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.

The ideal candidate has hands-on Databricks experience with Apache Iceberg and Unity Catalog, strong Python skills, and proficiency with Airflow and DBT. Experience with Snowflake and Informatica Cloud is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or related field.
• Proven design/optimization of data platforms using Databricks, Iceberg, Unity Catalog.
• Strong Python for data manipulation, automation, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Hands-on with Airflow and DBT for ingestion, transformation, and modeling.
• Experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms; Snowflake and Informatica Cloud a plus.
• Solid data warehousing concepts, governance, and security practices.

About the job:

As a Data Engineer at Opella, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and pipelines. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure that data is accessible, accurate, and actionable.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in Databricks data platform using Apache Iceberg and Unity Catalog, Python, DBT, Airflow and be proficient in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Experience with Informatica Cloud and Snowflake will be considered a plus.

Main responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using Databricks with Apache Iceberg and Unity Catalog, Python, Airflow and DBT.
• Develop and optimize data models and schemas to support analytical and reporting needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.
• Manage data integration and migration projects across various cloud platforms mainly AWS and Azure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows and ensure high data quality and availability.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and cloud technologies.

About you:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience with Databricks data platform design and optimization using Apache Iceberg and Unity Catalog.
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, automation, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Strong experience with Airflow and DBT for data ingestion, transformation and modeling.
• Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS and Azure).
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with Snowflake data platform and Informatica Cloud for data integration and cloud data management.
• Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
