Job summary

City of Columbia seeks a full-time recreation professional to plan and coordinate diverse programs and events within the Parks and Recreation Department. This role focuses on community engagement, safety, and efficient operation of facilities to serve residents year-round.

The incumbent will develop monthly themes, supervise staff, manage budgets, and partner with schools and local organizations. Irregular hours, weekends, and holidays may be required to meet event schedules.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of planning and providing community-based recreational services.
• Experience with preschool to senior activities.
• Budget monitoring and program administration.
• Ability to supervise staff and coordinate multiple programs.
• Knowledge of safety policies and first aid procedures.
• Ability to develop partnerships and marketing materials.

Responsibilities

• Plan, evaluate, and implement recreation activities and events.
• Coordinate and supervise sports leagues and clinics.
• Develop program budgets and monitor expenditures.
• Recruit, train, and supervise part-time staff and volunteers.
• Maintain facility cleanliness and equipment care.
• Engage with community groups to identify needs and programs.
