Job summary

IFC, part of the World Bank Group, seeks a Principal Investment Officer to lead infrastructure investment efforts in Colombia. The role covers business development, portfolio supervision, and client relationship management across power, transport, water, telecoms, and other sectors.

You will oversee a Colombia-based team, coordinate with the country manager and IBRD, and guide transactions from origination to closing while ensuring high development impact and risk control.

Qualifications

• Master degree, preferably in finance, business administration, management, economics, or a similar field.
• At least 12 to 15 years of relevant professional experience in the financial sector, preferably in an investment-related function.
• Knowledge and track record sourcing and closing deals in core infrastructure sectors (energy, water, transport, TMT).
• Project and corporate finance experience in Colombia required.
• Proven ability to lead complex transactions and coordinate across internal support units.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead Colombia infrastructure strategy in coordination with sector leads and manage a strong business pipeline.
• Identify potential investment partners and opportunities based on market potential and strategic fit.
• Build and manage relationships with government, banks, and other stakeholders to develop business opportunities.
• Analyze financial performance, review investment proposals, and ensure quality follow-up with IFC and external counterparts.
• Lead a team of infrastructure investment professionals in Colombia with mentorship and performance management.
• Coordinate with advisory and environmental & social teams to add value and achieve sustainable development impact.
• Attend industry conferences and coordinate sub-sector strategies with country management and IBRD colleagues.
