ScotiaTech in Bogota, Colombia seeks a Business Solutions Associate to support the Global Risk Technology Team with data analytics, scripting, and automation efforts, ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards.

You will collaborate with software engineers and business stakeholders, develop and maintain scripts in bash, Python, and SQL on GCP, and help deliver insights and improved processes in a fast-paced, inclusive environment.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Interest in financial markets, risk management, and banking regulations is an asset.

Responsabilidades

• Supports a customer-focused culture by collaborating with team members to meet clients and business needs.
• Assists in developing, automating, and maintaining scripts and tools using bash, Python, SQL, and GCP.
• Performs debugging, testing, and validation of scripts to ensure accuracy.
• Helps identify technical issues related to data processing, storage, and retrieval, escalating when appropriate.
• Provides day-to-day operational support by monitoring systems and performing basic troubleshooting.
• Contributes to data analysis, report generation, and insights for senior team members.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support project delivery and continuous improvement.

Purpose

Supports the Global Risk Technology Team in executing assigned tasks and initiatives that contribute to the team’s business strategies and objectives. Performs day-to-day activities under guidance, ensuring work is completed in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures, while developing technical and professional skills.

Accountabilities

• Supports a customer-focused culture by working collaboratively with team members to help meet clients and business needs.
• Assists in developing, automating, and maintaining scripts and tools using bash, Python, SQL, GCP, and other relevant technologies under guidance.
• Performs debugging, testing, and validation of scripts to help ensure quality and accuracy of results.
• Help identify and analyze technical issues related to data processing, storage, and retrieval, escalating issues when appropriate.
• Provides day-to-day operational support by monitoring systems, performing basic troubleshooting, and assisting in maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
• Assists with data analysis, report generation, and preparation of insights for review by senior team members.
• Contributes ideas for process improvements and supports the implementation of solutions aimed at increasing efficiency and productivity.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and business stakeholders, to support project delivery and alignment on priorities.
• Learns and applies emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in data analytics and automation to support continuous improvement.
• Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture apply to daily activities and decision-making.
• Carries out assigned responsibilities in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while adhering to required business controls related to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
• Contributes positively to a high-performance and inclusive work environment.

Dimensions

• 1–2 years of professional experience in a technical role such as Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field; experience in the financial industry is an asset but not required.
• Exposure to scripting or programming using bash, Python, SQL, or similar technologies through work experience, internships, or academic projects.
• Basic experience or academic exposure to data analysis and testing concepts (regression testing is a plus).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as GCP or others is desirable but not required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn and apply new concepts.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow instructions, and seek guidance when needed.
• Interest in financial markets, risk management, and banking regulations is an asset.

Working Conditions

• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
