ScotiaTech, a Scotiabank technology hub in Bogota, is seeking a Business Analyst Compliance Specialist to translate regulatory obligations into actionable processes, controls, and documentation.

You will partner with compliance officers, risk managers, auditors, and technology teams to ensure adherence to AML, privacy, operational risk, data governance, and regulatory requirements, while delivering dashboards, scorecards and executive reports to stakeholders.

Formación

  • 3+ years of experience in Compliance, Governance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, or related roles.
  • Experience as a Business Analyst in data-centric or analytics-driven environments.
  • Exposure to financial services, banking, or regulated industries preferred.
  • Experience working with regulated industries such as banking, financial services, or insurance.
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid delivery models is an asset.

Purpose

Detail oriented and risk aware Compliance & Governance Analyst with expertise in regulatory interpretation, policy governance, and control assessment. Adept at bridging business operations with compliance requirements by translating regulatory obligations into actionable processes, controls, and documentation.

Skilled in partnering with compliance officers, risk managers, auditors, and technology teams to ensure adherence to internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks.

Experienced in supporting governance programs, monitoring control effectiveness, and enabling informed decision making across organizational levels. Able to manage end-to-end compliance lifecycle activities in both Agile and hybrid environments with high attention to accuracy, clarity, and accountability.

Accountabilities
SME & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with SMEs, business stakeholders, and technical teams to gather requirements, review processes and system components, and ensure alignment with compliance, governance, and control expectations.
  • Facilitate cross‑functional workshops and stakeholder discussions to clarify goals, regulatory obligations, process updates, and policy changes.
  • Translate regulatory requirements, business needs, and technical considerations into clear, actionable deliverables, documentation, and controls.
  • Maintain and enhance governance documentation, including policies, standards, procedures, and evidence for audits, regulatory reviews, and examinations.
  • Provide advisory input on processes and solution designs, identifying risks and recommending appropriate control options integrated with project timelines.
Governance & Compliance Support
  • Assess control effectiveness across business processes, identify compliance gaps or risks, and support remediation by partnering with control owners to design and monitor corrective actions.
  • Conduct periodic reviews for adherence to AML, privacy, operational risk, data governance, and other regulatory requirements, while performing risk assessments, regulatory impact analyses, and readiness reviews for new or evolving initiatives.
  • Provide consultative review of business processes and solution designs by identifying risks, recommending appropriate control options, and aligning recommendations with delivery timelines.
  • Develop dashboards, scorecards, and executive‑level reports that communicate compliance metrics, risk indicators, and issue status to stakeholders.
Process Improvement & Governance Maturity
  • Support the development of automated reporting workflows and more efficient intake or operational models to enhance overall process effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the maturation of governance frameworks—including data governance, records management, and operational risk practices—by aligning improvements with enterprise standards.
  • Track improvement outcomes, remediation progress, and compliance performance trends to drive continuous enhancement and informed decision-making.
  • Prepare audit artifacts and evidence packs, support remediation of audit findings, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive lessons‑learned actions to advance governance and compliance maturity.

Education / Experience / Other Information
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • A master’s degree is considered an asset.
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Compliance, Governance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, or related roles.
  • Prior experience as a Business Analyst in data-centric or analytics-driven environments.
  • Exposure to financial services, banking, or regulated industries preferred.
  • Experience working with regulated industries such as banking, financial services, or insurance.
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid delivery models is an asset.
Technical Skills
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSFI, FINTRAC, GDPR, SOX, Basel, privacy laws).
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Familiarity with data mapping, process modeling (BPMN, Visio), and documentation tools (Confluence, JIRA).
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and control frameworks.
Soft Skills
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving abilities. Candidates must demonstrate adaptability and a growth mindset

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as CRCM, CAMS, CRISC, CIPP, CGEIT, or similar compliance/governance credentials.
  • Experience in enterprise governance programs (data governance, operational risk, privacy, or audit readiness).
  • Familiarity with control testing, risk assessments, or compliance monitoring frameworks.
  • Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or similar).
