Job summary

Remote Staffing International SAS is seeking an Automation Engineer to develop and maintain automated Playwright tests for web apps. This contractor role runs through December 2026, with the possibility of extension into 2027.

You will convert manual tests to automated Playwright scripts, expand page objects, and collaborate with QA/engineering to improve coverage and reliability in CI environments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience developing UI automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Experience with an existing automation framework and established conventions.
• Strong debugging skills: flakiness, waits, reliable selectors.
• Experience using AI tools to generate automated tests, with verification/debugging prior to acceptance.
• Ability to work independently, consult docs and code, and ask clear questions when needed.
• Sound judgment in selecting test cases suitable for automation.
• Experience testing web apps; e-commerce experience preferred.
• Experience running automated tests in CI environments; familiarity with AWS-based CI is a plus.

Responsibilities

At RSI, we?re seeking an Automation Engineer with hands‑on experience in Playwright and TypeScript to develop and maintain automated tests for web applications. The position is offered under a contractor agreement through December 2026, with the possibility of extension into 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert existing manual test cases into automated Playwright tests using an established TypeScript framework.
• Build and extend page objects and helper methods while following existing standards and conventions.
• Evaluate manual test cases before automating them to determine whether automation is worthwhile.
• Develop reliable, stable tests and identify ways to prevent and reduce test failures caused by flakiness.
• Investigate failed test runs to distinguish actual software defects from test issues by reviewing reports, traces, and recent code changes.
• Use AI tools to improve productivity when creating tests, while verifying and debugging the generated output before integration.
• Collaborate with QA and engineering teams to establish test IDs and selectors and identify gaps in test coverage.
• Help reduce the existing automation backlog, prioritizing tests classified as Highest and High priority.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience developing UI automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Experience working within an existing automation framework and following established conventions.
• Strong debugging skills, including troubleshooting flaky tests, managing waits, and implementing reliable selectors.
• Experience using AI tools to generate automated tests, with the ability to understand, verify, and debug the output before accepting it.
• Ability to work independently, consult documentation and existing code before requesting assistance, and communicate questions clearly when needed.
• Sound judgment in determining which test cases are suitable for automation.
• Experience testing web applications is required; e-commerce experience is preferred.
• Experience running automated tests in continuous integration (CI) environments is a plus. Familiarity with AWS‑based CI environments is beneficial.
• Experience with Jira and Xray, or similar test management tools, is a plus.
