HCLTech in Bogota seeks an experienced AS/400 (iSeries) System Administrator - L2 to manage IBM i environments within a 24x7 enterprise. You will administer systems, troubleshoot escalated incidents, monitor performance, and ensure backups, security, and DR readiness across production.

You will be the primary escalation point, work with L1 teams, mentor staff, and drive stability and efficiency. This role requires rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities to maintain continuous operations.

We are looking for AS/400 or iSeries or IBM i System Administration experience, as we are currently looking for infrastructure and platform support skills

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced AS/400 (iSeries) System Administrator - L2 to manage and support i (AS/400) environments within a 24x7 enterprise infrastructure. The role involves administration, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, backup and recovery management, security administration, high availability support, and system maintenance activities. The candidate will serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues and ensure the stability, availability, and performance of i systems.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration & Performance Management

• Respond to and resolve escalated incidents that cannot be addressed by L1 AS/400 Operations teams.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance
• Perform proactive health checks and recommend improvements.
• Generate and maintain daily system status and operational reports.

User and Security Administration

• Create, modify, and manage user profiles and service accounts.
• Troubleshoot user access, authorization, and authority-related issues.
• Support secure key generation and SSH configuration for internal and external connectivity.
• Manage Digital Certificates, SSL implementation, renewals, and certificate lifecycle activities.

Backup, Recovery & BRMS Administration

• Ensure successful execution of daily, weekly, monthly, and full system backups.
• Analyze backup logs and resolve backup failures, unsaved objects, and abnormalities.
• Perform backup validation and restoration activities.
• Support disaster recovery testing and recovery procedures.

Storage & Tape Library Administration

• Administer and monitor internal and external storage systems.
• Support disks reclaim activities and storage optimization initiatives.
• Manage ASP cleanup and object size reporting.
• Administer tape libraries, tape devices, media management, software upgrades, tape movement, and cleanup activities.

Job Management & Operations Support

• Create, modify, and manage jobs using Advanced Job Scheduler.
• Configure and administer job queues and subsystems.
• Support application operations and coordinate with development and business teams.

Printer & Output Management

• Create and administer printer sessions, LAN printers, remote printers, and printer IDs.
• Configure and manage output queues.
• Resolve printing and spool file-related issues.

HA/DR & System Maintenance

• Administer High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) environments.
• Monitor replication status and resolve replication-related issues.
• Support planned DR drills and failover testing activities.
• Download, evaluate, and implement PTFs, HIPER fixes, and cumulative packages.
• Support application deployment and updates across all i partitions.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for i infrastructure and system-related issues.
• Coordinate with hardware vendors, software vendors, and third-party support teams for issue resolution.
• Participate in IT operational reviews, service improvement initiatives, and technical discussions.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to L1 Operations teams.
• 24x7 support environment with rotational shifts and on-call responsibilities.
• Ability to handle critical production incidents and participate in planned maintenance activities during non-business hours.
